He called this body of water [...]

ANDREA TUCKER | All in My Head

ANDREA TUCKER  "ALL IN MY HEAD" MAY 13 - JUNE 3, 2023 ELISSA CRISTALL GALLERY is pleased to present All in My Head an exhibition of oil paintings by Vancouver artist Andrea Tucker. Highly detailed, portrait-style oil paintings draw from the artist’s interest in tattoo imagery, tarot cards, and spiritual and mythological symbolism. Artist Spotlight | Randall Steeves

Encaustic, or molten beeswax mixed with pigment, is Steeves’ medium of choice. The physicality of the encaustic medium is reinforced in the form of large renderings of fingerprints layered over the canvas surface. The prints are often Steeves’ own — he had himself ‘processed’ by the Vancouver Police Department in preparation for this work — and they serve to remind us not only of the existence of the painter, but of the substance of the painting itself. [...]

LESLEY FINLAYSON | REFLECT

LESLEY FINLAYSON "REFLECT" SEPTEMBER 15 - OCTOBER 8, 2022 These drawings and paintings were developed during the spring of 2022. They began with a trip to Yellow Point on Vancouver Island in February. Drawing conditions were not ideal for sustained periods, but the cold and logistical awkwardness contributed to a focus and intensity I really enjoy.  - LF LESLEY FINLAYSON REFLECT #1 ACRYLIC ON CANVAS 40" x 48" [...]
